a little ways down the road…

18 May

*SPOILER ALERT*  *SPOILER ALERT*  *SPOILER ALERT*  *SPOILER ALERT*  *SPOILER ALERT*

Is it Quinn? Robin? Lily? Zoe? Victoria? Or Ranjit? Scratch that last one, I just really wanted to include adorable Ranjit.

Oh the dilemma! But worry not, for I got the answer!

And the bride is.. *cue drum roll*

Robin Scherbatsky.

Barney-Robin fans, rejoice! Barney-Quinn shippers, together, let us take a little time to lament on this.

Darn, look at the time again! Gotta sneak in a few zzZs before work.

I’ll blog more about the season finale episode soon, I promise.

Diane’s Selection: An Online Shopping Special

16 May

My friends and I were supposed to go out tonight but being the lazy bums that we are, we decided to cancel on each other. Heehee.

Hence, I have hours of free time. I decided to go on the internet. Being the loco shopaholic that I am, I ended up online shopping. Yes, online shopping, again. Shoes, bags, cosmetics, even puppies, for god’s sake.

Right now, I have one, two, three, four, five…. forty-three tabs open. Forty three.

FORTY. THREE.

Forty three tabs of shoes, cosmetics, clothes, bags and puppies that I all want. And I’ve already closed dozens of tabs that I deemed unfit. So that’s like the things that already went through Charles Darwin’s Natural Selection. Well, in this case, Diane’s Selection.

I mean come on. When you go online shopping, there must be a limit of acceptable things that are in the ‘want pile.’ Right? And I highly doubt forty-three is acceptable. So, as much as I regret to say this, I must cut back with this habit of mine. I mean for the past two weeks alone, I’ve already bought (for my discretion, and because you all might think I’m as crazy shopaholic as Rebecca Bloomwood, ) let’s just say that she’s a much bigger shopaholic than I am. And I’m not even close to becoming her. So relax, okay?

It’s just hard to shop for decent things in Tacloban. If there are decent enough things, emphasis on the if, it’s not worth buying anymore because everybody will have them. Equals, mainstream. And I am not in the mood to be on the ‘Who wore it better?’ section of the gossip. That’s why I just buy them all online or when I travel.

Yes, I know. Those were just rationalizations trying to justify my behavior. Nevertheless, I seriously am going to try cutting back.

Between my monstrous eating habits and going out with my friends, my allowance can’t really sustain the additional shopping expenses anymore. Well it could, but that would mean I’m just going to have to survive  eating a biscuit every meal. And that, I surely cannot survive.

I can’t just cut myself off right away though. I’m afraid that if I do that I might go into withdrawal. Yes, I am seriously comparing this to addiction.

Therefore, I am going to limit myself to the maximum of TWO purchases in a month. Yes, that is cutting back in my standards.

But then again that’s another rationalization.

Boracay Baby, A Lookbook and Chictopia Post

10 May

Oh how I miss my summer spent in heaven (aka Boracay.)

I’ve been so busy with my internship that I don’t even have time to go to the beach. Boooo!

Good thing is that I got to bring home a piece of Boracay with me: tons of pictures! And of course, wonderful easy, breezy, memories!

Rockwell Bazaar Hat. Aldo Sunnies. Willy’s Hotel welcoming shell necklace. Oxygen bodysuit.         Zara cardigan. Forever 21 belt. Topshop shorts, Frollic flats.

PS:   My first post in lookbook and comeback post in chictopia. Yey!

PPS: Don’t forget to hype this look on lookbook and chictopia!

Welcome to Lookbook.nu!

9 May

So guess what guys (or not, I’m still going to blog about it regardless of your response, anyway.) I’ve signed up at Lookbook.nu!

For those who’s asking what it is, it’s basically a fashion site wherein you post pictures of yourself with your award-winning ensemble and tell people where you got it. Then you hype each other’s looks and comment about them. Plus you can be ‘fans’ of your favorite lookbookers.

So it’s basically like Chictopia, only more popular. Oh and that reminds me. I have a chictopia account as well! Well, I’ve had it for over a year now and haven’t posted anything new almost as long as that. Heehee.

But be forewarned, I don’t plan on being active on both fashion blogs. Mainly because I can’t be bothered to take a decent full-body shot of myself. Chos. But really, I don’t want to burden you guys with the messy background of my cluttered things scattered expertly in my room.

So why put the badges here, then? It’s because I love the badge of lookbook! It’s so artsy and chic!

It is, right? You better be nodding your head like crazy right about now.

If you want to check both of my profiles, I’ve added widgets to my blog because I love you all so much (and I know you people are lazy bums like me to make the effort of copying and pasting the urls. Uyy, aminin!)

Don’t forget to check them out! The badges/widgets/links can be found at the right portion. Like there —->

Well, of course, you have to scroll down first, dummy. Send me some love, okay?

Love Song Syndrome (LSS)

6 May

When you have this one song that’s playing on loop in your head all day long, it’s called LSS or Last Song Syndrome.

In this case though, I prefer to call it Love Song Syndrome, because the song that I’m pertaining to is entitled Love Song. Hence, the title. D’oh.

This song is written and performed by Sara Bareilles and is the first single of her debut album, Little Voice which came out on 2007. Yes, you read that right.

I first heard this song a few years ago while I was studying overseas. I distinctly remember hearing it for the first time when I was on the bus with my friends, being all touristy and stuff because it was one of those rare days when our study breaks coincided with each others’ and decided to go exploring the strange city we were in. Wow, I went and sprinted off topic that fast, huh?

Where was I? Oh, right, the song. A few years back, when the song was all popular and new, I remember that I didn’t quite like it. Don’t even ask me why cause I sure as hell don’t know the reason myself! It’s bloody good!

I wonder why Sara Bareilles isn’t as popular as she ought to be. Her songs are awesome. She’s such a  talented songwriter and singer. The lyrics are raw and relatable. Her songs are like chapters that complete the journey of a heroine through the good times and the bad. Plus she’s so pretty!

The song is about a girl whose been through a lot but is still confident enough to hold her own ground, unwilling to compromise her principles. Here’s my favorite part of the song:

I’m not gonna write you a love song
‘Cause you asked for it
‘Cause you need one, you see
I’m not gonna write you a love song
‘Cause you tell me it’s make or breaking this
If you’re on your way
I’m not gonna write you to stay
If all you have is leaving
I’mma need a better reason to write you a love song today
Today

I learned the hard way
That they all say things you want to hear
My heavy heart sinks deep down under you
And your twisted words, your help just hurts
You are not what I thought you were
Hello to high and dry

If I could, I’d declare this an inspirational anthem for all the ladies.

By the by, here is my Top Five Sara Bareilles songs:

Love Song
King of Anything
Kaleidoscope Heart
Bottle It Up
Breathe Again

Falling in Love with Instagram

6 May

So while I went on my blogging hiatus, I am very proud to announce that I did not completely go off the grid and lived like a caveman (or as I have learned while minoring in Gender Equality in my undergrad studies in UP, cavewoman.)

I discovered the pot of luck hidden in the end of the rainbow, unguarded by the leprechauns. Or as I would like to call it, Instagram. What is instagram, you might ask? Well, if you’ve been living under a ginormous rock for the past few months, no offense, I researched a brief description for you. (More like googled and clicked on the entry at the very top of the results page, wikipedia-d it and copy-pasted it here cause I’m feeling a bit lazy. Heehee.)

Instagram is a free photo sharing program launched in October 2010 that allows users to take a photo, apply a digital filter to it, and then share it on a variety of social networking services, including Instagram’s own. A distinctive feature confines photos to a square shape, similar to Kodak Instamatic and Polaroid images, in contrast to the 4:3 aspect ratio typically used by mobile device cameras

Yeah, that’s about the gist of it. What I like most about Instgram though is that it took the best qualities and functionalites of Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr, and merged it into one sweet package. It’s connecting people one photo at a time. Another amazing thing is the ability to filter the photos. It save so much time for the minor tweaks and edits that people usually do before posting pictures. It’s simple, smooth and classy.

Of course, like in a battery, there is a positive side and a negative side as well, for it to function perfectly. The thing that I don’t like about IG is that it reduces the quality of your photos. And the most obvious one is that IG being solely available through mobile devices. Another thing is its inability to create photo collages and put text in the photo itself.

So yeah, I’ll be re-posting the photos I’ve put up in my IG account here for all the world to see. By the way, follow me on IG for more updates. Search for @dianesaur.

Almost a month

5 May

Wow. Just wow. I haven’t noticed it’s almost a month since I last posted a blog entry.

I’m sorry, but I do have a valid excuse. Really, I do. I’ve been busy with my internship (albeit unpaid), travel plans and what not. Those count, right?

I missed blogging about the mundane things that strangely interest me. I even had a dream once about blogging. Really, I was blogging in my sleep. Imagine how much you’d have to miss something for you to have dreams about it. Did you miss my monologues as well? Yeah, that’s rhetorical cause I’m just going to assume that the response to that is a shining shimmering ye-e-es! I know, I know. Blonde moment. Must be from the excitement of getting to blog again. 🙂

So I’m just going to try to fill you in with the many many many many things that happened since I’ve gone all M.I.A. on you guys. Well, for the things I still remember, by the way.

So bear with me as I flood my blog with lots* of backlog entries on the upcoming days. Or if you look forward to my posts (which I will assume that you all do), then it’s going to be an extremely early Christmas.

xoxo,
D.
